These are a joke compared to what I had to do during basic and advanced training. Compared to a regular PT test this is a joke.

Exactly. Recruits have to take these to assess their physical abilities before you get to basic, but if the APFT physical standards end up being more difficult, what's the point of this?

Someone is kidding right? This seems tame compared to the PT tests that I ever took.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - Are we processing 1000's of recruits monthly? I'd heard that we're releasing 1000's of soldiers. Trained. Experienced. Battle-hardened soldiers. And we're recruiting 1000's? Strange. I guess that practice eliminates the needs for promoting anyone.

It's the Funnel System approach, Where you put in 1000's across the nation, then after some initial discrimination you have a thousand less, then after more thorough discrimination you have a thousand less, then again and again until you have those ready to ship, then some back out, and some ship. You went from having thousands to hundreds just starting basic training.
Just accounting for natural attrition which goes down during economic slumps, we now have an influx of more joining than leaving. What's your basis that all these soldiers are trained, battle hardened, and experienced that are being released? Those being released en masse were let go of due to prior UCMJ through Morality boards, not making ht/wt, failing apft or RCP or those getting passed for promotion due to outdated guidelines or failure to educate themselves.

But what exactly does force generation have to do with promotions?
