Thanks for reminding us about the Holocaust SSG Carlos Madden.
My mother's family took in a Slav who survived Treblinka after WWII in England. I met this man named Cashik [spelling unsure] when I was a young man as he came to visit my parents who came to America just before I was born. My memories of him are that he was quiet and thoughtful; but, his eyes looked sorrowful and almost deadened which is because I expect they had witnessed so much horror for so long in that extermination camp. I understand he died in his 40s because of the torture and beatings he received while interned in Treblinka.
