SFC Justin Scott CALEA is right on point to this exact circumstance. It's a huge reach going to 1789 writs act.

Regardless of which side anyone is on, I don't see how the government can force Apple to spend the time and money creating a program that doesn't currently exist free of charge.

They obviously don't have too. But, in this failure to do so, in my opinion, is aiding terrorists who murdered several innocent people.
For me it is not a legal issue but a moral one.

Capt (Join to see) - How's it aiding terrorists? The one's involved are dead. Also, Apple's concern is much bigger than this one situation. Apple's concern is violating their customers' trust. If the government gets away with it in this instance, what's to stop them in future instances that have nothing to do with terrorism? Where does the slippery slope stop?

It aids terrorism because others know that they have a way to plan that can not be found. You have you opinion. I draw the line when our country is targeted and our citizens slaughtered.
