Conditions at Al Udeid are still better than most FOBs that Soldiers spent time in for OIF or OEF.

That is an accurate statement COL Jon Thompson. I was there 2010 and there was different levels of living. You had old buildings which you might of seen a rat or two, you had tents and then you had the newer style barracks. Luck of the draw.

I am currently stationed at Al Udeid Air Base, and let me tell you... It is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
Sure, there are nasty latrines and showers, but you can only do so much when 5000 people go through them every day. The smarter solution would have been to build barracks with a shower in each room. Make the 2 soldiers living in the room responsible for their own cleanliness.
This all stems from the spoiled, entitled society we have today. Sorry to pull the "branch card," but it's obvious airmen have a better quality of living, so ofcourse they will complain when not living in dorms built within the last 5 years.
I feel sorry for Chief Good and General James who have served their whole life and are potentially being relieved of their duties due to spoiled kids who complain.

Thanks SSG (Join to see) for proving a current update to the situation at Al Udeid Air Base. I am glad that it is not as bad as the article made it out to be and it has improved over time. Holy crap after 13 years this is finally making the news. We've had a black mold problem in our hooches back in 2004. The problem is that the place is so humid and people run their air conditioners to 60 degrees and it causes the mold to infest the place.
