That is interesting SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL that a new Army policy called Essential Unit Messing means that enlisted soldiers in rotational units in South Korea will be required to eat at the Army’s dining facilities, unless they want to pay out of pocket for their meals.
I suppose it makes sense; but, to be honest I hope that married soldiers and others authorized BAS are not penalized or worse yet their stateside families would be cut short.

LTC Stephen F. this is a game changer, But EUM ensures that soldiers on deployment to South Korea are getting well-rounded, nutritious meals three times a day, said Martin, who added that he regularly eats at the dining facilities as well.
I am assuming its only in Korea for the above stated purpose. It would be detrimental if it goes stateside and BAS is recouped for married Soldiers. "Ouch"

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL - I concur if this change affects military families BAS I hope Congress acts quickly since some lower grade families qualify for food stamps already.

New name but same requirement that lately (last 15yeara) has not been enforced. I remember having my meals deducted from my BAS stateside during field problems and during my tour to Korea in 93. The article states BAS not for the family's was just a matter of time before the Army decided to enforce.

That sucks because when I was there there DFAC meals weren't nothing to write home about. A lot of Soldiers were choosing to eat off base.

Chili Mac! Hamburger Helper Surprise. Dish soap flavored mashed taters. But Heinz 57 makes it all better.
