Does a Volunteer Recruiting Packet take precedence over current orders?

Does anyone know if you drop a volunteer recruiting packet, USAREC approves you and then your Branch tells you they have no school dates from now until your PCS. Is this possible with it being a hot assignment? I mean I think it is but thought recruiting had a big push on it now. I have 6 months until my PCS and they told me if something was freed up they would call but I was kind of in shock when I was told that. I appreciate anyones incite on this. I tried to research it but could not find any answers.

If you are already on orders or have a projected assignment, you should contact your Branch directly. Ask them if they would be willing or able to delete current assignment/orders and release you for recruiting assignment if you are selected by the USAREC RTR Team and your name is submitted to your Branch. Depending on each Branch's manning strength needs and assignment fill priorities, this may or may not work. Alternatively, your Branch may just DA Select you (if applicable/eligible) vs. waiting for the volunteer process.

Deployments and needs of the Army usually always take precedence over anything else, but a few years back DS and Recruiter were in a big push, I don't think that is the case anymore, especially if you volunteered, if you were DA directed that would be different, I would be contacting your local career counselor or branch mgr. for better details, we have many career counselor's here on RP that you could contact for better guidance.
MSG Quick is currently at the USASMA, but he is always doing his best to assist anyone on RP with questions. I know many other CC's on RP that I could recommend as well if interested.
