Originally from Michigan, entered the Marine Corps in 1967, graduated Boot Camp in San Diego, completed ITR, graduated Machine Gun Training School, graduated Vietnamese Language School in Camp Del Mar, completed Staging in Camp Pendleton, deployed to Phu Bai in VietNam with Mike Co, 3/5, 1st MarDiv. Wounded, sent to hospital in DaNang, then to Army General Hosp in Yokohama, Japan, and then flown to Naval Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois. Completed service as Brig guard at Base Brig in Camp Pendleton, Ca.

Guard convicted prisoners and base parolees at the Camp Pendleton Brig. Office duties within the Major's Administrative Office preparing documents governing the formal hearings of accused prisoners according to the UCMJ.
Apr 1968 - Jun 1968
Machine Gunner
Weapons Platoon Machine Gunner and Vietnamese Interpreter. Roamed the area with M Co in the Quang Tri Province of VietNam. Wounded June 19, 1968 in off road emplacement guarding convoy. Wounded by 60mm mortars in what today is referred to as an IED.
