Grew up all over Japan being a military brat and I just love Japan . I'm a (15B) aviation power plant repairer. There is a VIP unit there that has UH60's and fixed wing but those jobs are only open for crew chiefs (15T) and my job is apparently done by civilians so my chances of going there are slim to none. So if there is an opportunity to change MOS's just to go to Japan I will. I just would like to know what's out there. Any help would be highly appreciated.

I have a better answer for you this time. Go to https://actnow.army.mil/ It has a listing of every assignment location for your MOS and paygrade. The only thing it doesn't do is tell you if that assignment is currently occupied. That is where you use rallypoint to make some connections and find out.

To find the assignments in your career field click on the "explore my career" tab. Select everything that applies to you and eventually you will know how many slots are available for a 15B E4 for FY14 in Japan. The nearest assignment is in South Korea for that paygrade and MOS. But at least you have a place to search for unique assignments.

Just about any MI MOS will get you over there. Army band and quartermaster would get you there as well. Seeing that you are Airborne, have you looked into going to 1st SF Group in Okinawa?

1st SF Group is Air Force correct? as well as SF being Security Forces? ive been contemplating on joining one of the branches and so far i’m leaning with the Air Force. i would love to be stationed in Japan, i know it’s more to where you are needed, but if the chances are there then i am willing to take them.

Cali Ramos - My response was for Army Soldiers, so SF is a different meaning from what the Air Force considers SF.
