Those who have served anywhere has probably saluted or been saluted by people from other services. I have noticed that some are more crisp than others. Based on your experiences of which service has the best salute?

I'd love to say Navy, but our beloved Marines are uniformly most consistent with that perfect snap. Could always see the pride in it.

SFC Dachtor Strange - they report out of the navy chain of command they also have separate funding and rank structure that is a formality at best.

I answered Navy because I'm a Navy Veteran and always rendered a sharp salute when necessary. That being said, however I have seen many salutes and I have to agree with the survey. The Marine Corps is the sharpest group of fighting men I've seen. Always the Sharpest of salutes, and the most diciplined group I have ever been associated with.

If the salute is properly executed, you can't tell which service the salute-er is in without looking at the uniform.

As a Navy Corpsman I can tell you that a Marine will hand salute better then any branch in the service...No question about it!!

FWIW, the regulations for a "proper" salute differ slightly between Army and Navy, as I discovered when switching from Navy to Army.

All I know is when I see a squared away salute, the 1st thing I think to myself is "Nice Salute, Soldier"! The 2nd thing I do is start searching the uniform for the "Identifiers"; because I spend most of my time "on base" at MacDill AFB, where Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen from all the US Fighting Forces and quite a few from many other friendly Nations seem to congregate. And, with all those different Services having damn near the very same uniform styles in a multitude of colors and shades, you have to be pretty quick to decipher Country, Service and Rank because no one's standing around lollygagging.
