Fermilab’s Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) Project is seeking an LBNF/DUNE Deputy Project Director for Facilities to join the team. The LBNF/DUNE Project (https://lbnf-dune.fnal.gov/) is hosted by Fermilab in Batavia, IL, but includes participation from universities and laboratories from around the world. The project includes construction of the world’s most powerful neutrino beam and a near detector at Fermilab as well as a large underground detector at the Sanford Laboratory in Lead, South Dakota. The LBNF/DUNE project will design and construct one of the largest neutrino experiments in the world in the next decade.
Reporting directly to the LBNF/DUNE-US Project Director, the Deputy Director for Facilities will be responsible for the successful execution of the conventional facilities and beamline for the LBNF/DUNE Project, in conformance with the requirements of DOE Order 413.3b and other applicable orders. In addition, they will meet the established goals for technical, cost, schedule, safety and environmental performance.
You Will:
Provide the primary point of contact for the facilities with the Fermilab Directorate, DOE Program Manager and Federal Project Director, the rest of the LBNF/DUNE Project and the DUNE collaboration leadership and external institutions engaged in the project.
Maintain close communication with the LBNF/DUNE-US Project Director or delegated representative, other institutional partners, and all boards and advisory groups on the progress of the facilities.
Coordinate with international and other partners in accordance with agreements with partners.
Work closely with other elements of the LBNF/DUNE Project and the DUNE collaboration leadership on mutual issues and concerns through established structures such as the Experiment-Facility Interface Group (EFIG) and make periodic reports to the Collaboration to ensure good communication.
Represent the project’s facilities to the broader physics community.
Confirm final acceptance of major systems and facilities; approve the start of operations.
Assure safety, security and administrative performance of the facilities subprojects.
Participate in the DOE Integrated Project Team in accordance with the DOE Preliminary Project Execution Plan.
Coordinate closely with the DOE Federal Project Director on all aspects of planning, budgeting, and project execution for the facilities.
Manage all human resources actions for the assigned area including hiring, training, promotions, performance and merit reviews, disciplinary actions and terminations, as may be appropriate.
Manage staffing selection for the senior management team: LBNF-CERN Project Manager; Subproject Managers in conjunction with the LBNF/DUNE-US Project Director and others as appropriate. Supports a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Abide by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

We are Looking For:
Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering or relevant discipline and a minimum of ten (10) years’ large project (> $500M) management experience required
Experience with large DOE O 413.3b project management strongly desired
Demonstrated success in large project execution
Strong engineering, construction, and project management background with international collaboration
Strong ability to work and negotiate with national and international partners
