Home Base Iowa (HBI) is a one-of-a-kind program connecting veterans and transitioning service members with HBI partners and resources. Currently, Iowa’s unemployment rate is at 2.7 percent and businesses are looking to hire skilled workers. This program helps connect Iowa businesses with qualified veterans looking for career opportunities. Countless resources are available to help veterans and their families with education and in transitioning to a new community with focused support and individuals who want to help. Home Base Iowa’s private-public partnership provides a high level of commitment for our veterans, transitioning service members and their families.

MSgt Jason Kemp 1st, thanks for taking the time to visit with our membership.,
2nd, your insight to the HomeBase Iowa region will be most helpful.... May I ask, can you share the POC's for the other Home Base locations, to include, if I might be a little self serving, the one that covers Copperas cove Texas location as i knew many vets here in the area that could use a solid opportunity.
3rd, Tell us if you can.... what resources did you use to help you translate your career accomplishments, your Military training into what caught the eye of the HomeBase employee that hired you?

I'm not aware of a program like this one in Texas, but I will say there are a lot of great employers in the state! I know of the "Just for Veterans" program sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission.
We have a Homebase program in Maryland, just outside of DC. What can we do to 1. Help the program and 2. How do we refer vets or contact the referring agency?

I think the best way to help is by simply spreading the word and networking. I'd be happy to connect with you and share lessons learned. If you run into a veteran interested in Iowa all they need to do is submit a resume on homebaseiowa.org to begin the process.
