Extreme cold. It's easier to get warm than it is to cool off.

Would depend on the living conditions... minus AC, I'll take the cold. I used to pass this thermometer daily during the mile walk to/from the combat hospital in Kandahar.

Looks like a consensus so far, all other things being equal, I'd definitely take cold for the same reasons mentioned. It's nearly always possible to find a way to warm up (at least to some degree), this is much less likely when it comes to getting cooled down.

Cold as I can cover up and layers of clothing and Blankets etc etc. HOT would cause you all to go blind see me naked trying to stay cool.

I'll be the odd-man out, or oddball, depending on your POV; being from FL originally, I deal with the heat better than I do the cold even though I spent the majority of my time in service in cold/colder climates.

Cold, Cold, Cold!! I am not fond of Hot Weather and Humidity, I love my 4 seasons and enjoy the summer as the shortest!! I spent 9 years in Hawaii and although it is paradise I enjoyed my 4 years in Maine a whole lot more. With cold weather comes a refreshing feeling that you never get when its hot all the time. Nothing like sitting on a porch on a nice crisp morning drinking a hot cup of coffee!!

I grew up in a hot and humid area of the US. As a result, I'll take Fort Wainwright over Fort Bliss or Fort Huachuca any day. :)

I can always put on more cold weather gear. Not so much with hot weather.

I'd definitely have to go with cold as well. If I am stationed in an extreme climate, I will be miserable, and when I am miserable, I drink lots of beer. Cold climates allow for large coats and sweaters, which would hide my connsiderable beer belly. Ergo, cold climates are best for purely aesthetic reasons.

I will take cold any day of the week. It is much easier to warm up then cool down. You can wear layers put on or take off as needed. In the heat there is no escape.

Extreme heat, but in reality there is never enough layers for me to put on in cold climates and there is only so much i can take off in hot climates. Its never perfect in extreme conditions for me.

I prefer the heat. I don't mind sweating. It is the body's natural cooling mechanism.

Depends on your definition of "extreme." Anywhere between 50° - 110° is perfectly tolerable in shorts and t-shirt. I'd prefer 20° over 130°, but I'll take 140° over 0°. 140° is pretty much my upper limit, though. I can keep going down to about -30°. Not happily, mind you, but functionally. Beyond the -30° and 140° thresholds, though, all bets are off.
