I would go with a write in of Captain Miller (Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan). He was book smart, street smart, knew when to go by the book and when to wing it, cared about his men and their lives, and got the job done no matter what. I would follow him no problem at all.

Tough call. Tough call. Depends on the deployment I'd guess.

If this deployment is a Hollywood comedy, where we already know the good guys will win in a fun and cheeky manner, MSG Bilko would be the choice leadership du jour. Obviously!

However, if I’m deployed to a drama, action thriller, tragedy or documentary, I'll have to reassess my choices.

I liked Sam Elliot who played a rough old Sergeant Major in. "We Were Soldiers".... the CSM had been in WWII, Korea & Vietnam so when a young Pvt said "Good Morning Sergeant Major"... the Old CSM said "Who the hell made you a #$#&^%$#@ Weatherman?". That's my kind of CSM. I had a CSM who hated Jocks in the Marines " He told me... "The only thing worse than a Jock in the Marines is a Brig Rat"....

When it comes down to the bare truth a lax Sgt is not good in combat, you need to have a tough Sgt to keep you and your friends alive. As for an officer I would pick Audie Murphy due to the fact that he wouldn't have his troops due something that he wouldn't do himself.
