I think it really depends on what your mission will be. I used to wear Nikes around the office because they were the most comfortable, but many boot makers are now making boots they feel like tennis shoes. The Nikes also weren't super durable. I wore Oakleys in AFG, but I was mostly a fobbit. They held up pretty good and were comfy. Now I cycle between Rocky's. So far they have been great, but I'm not sure how well they would handle in the "elements".

I would go either Danner or Oakley. I love both for different reasons. Danner's are tough and have great stability. The Oakley's breathe better and are lighter. For me, it would probably be the Danner boots.

None. I'll go through normal logistics/supply channels, as the military should be issuing all deployment gear, including footwear.

You wear the service issue, end of discussion. If you are a unit leader and you are wearing something better than service issue, you cannot relate to your subordinates who would not have a choice other than service issue.

Rocky's are my shit. I love those boots! I would go with Oakley but they don't last nearly as long.
