Senators want a permanent inspector general for VA
"Over the past two years, VA has faced well-documented challenges, including the failure to provide timely health care nationwide," the letter stated. "A permanent IG would help to address these failures and would play a critical role in auditing and evaluating VA programs, conducting health care inspections and investigating allegations of serious violations."

Of course not. If there was a permanent person, then the incoming secretary (or sitting, for that matter) couldn't just plug in someone that will turn a blind eye to what is going on.

SPC Jan Allbright, M.Sc., R.S. Wow! I can't believe no one has been a VA IG. I will volunteer for that job talking about job security! We need competent leadership and the current 'leaders' need to be held accountable.

I would almost be willing to do it for free. It has nothing to with job security and all about taking care of our veterans.
How about this...no salary but they pay my expenses, stop taxing my retirement (Federal and State) and then pay my a penny for every $100 of actual savings? Congress or VA, call me.
