Would you support Acupuncturists in Service and the VA?

I am as soon to be licensed acupuncturist. If this act passed, I would seriously consider returning to service or working for the VA. This act would allow acupuncturists to be commissioned officers and work for the VA.

I don't know enough to make an informed comment. I do know that some insurance companies are now paying for accupuncture to treat some conditions so I guess that it does work. However the only people that I have seen advertising it here also hold some other kind of medical degree.

I had a military officer who was an Internists perform acupuncture on me for some back pain issues at Walter Reed. So they already do it, but I'm not sure if they have people solely dedicated to acupuncture.

I don't have any real opinion on acupuncture, but I sure wish that everyone would stop referring to anyone who was ever in the military as a "hero." All it's doing is diluting the term and bringing true heroes down to the level of every Soldier. Soon, it won't be a distinguishing adjective, it'll be just another word for Soldier.

I know they use dry needling (Western version of acupuncture) in physical therapy, and I believe the pain management clinic uses acupuncture. I'm fully in support of alternative medicine as long as there is a long history of use for what it's treating (NOT PHARMACEUTICAL DATA, since they won't pay to research natural/alternative medicine unless they can profit) . There was some images floating around Facebook a few years ago that claimed some fruit could cure cancer, THAT I'm not likely to believe.

I would support it as long as there is data to back it up. It would be nice to add another alternative to conventional medicine.

I know nothing about acupuncture, but if it can make my back not hurt then hell yes.
