SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4385134 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>i know you get sent to an infantry unit if you fail Q course as an 18X just wondering if you could land in a airborne unit. You do go to airborne school after OSUT if im not mistaken, so would someone like 173rd or 82nd take you ? Would you still somehow get into an airborne unit if you went 18x (as prior service) and failed out of Q course ? 2019-02-20T15:07:31-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4385134 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>i know you get sent to an infantry unit if you fail Q course as an 18X just wondering if you could land in a airborne unit. You are not guaranteed to be an 11B. Usually you are offered a chance to go to CA or Psyop before the army has it&#39;s way with you, that&#39;s a good way to stay not only airborne, but sof as well Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 20 at 2019 3:37 PM 2019-02-20T15:37:24-05:00 2019-02-20T15:37:24-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4385310 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You do go to Airborne after OSUT and a large percentage of 18X don&#39;t make it all the way through the pipeline. That makes it a very effective recruiting tool for filling critical MOSs.<br />People who drop from the pipeline get reclassed to the needs of the Army. After their new AIT they will usually go to an Airborne assignment. Mostly that will be an Airborne BCT or an SF Command unit. Good luck in your future endeavors.
