That is the problem we have in the media today. News has views interlaced in it and you cannot easily differentiate between the news and an opinion worked into it. News should not go "against your views". It is factual. It is the who, what, where, when and why of journalism. As most of those responding here I want to the news to be factual and unbiased. Unfortunately, there is no single source that provides that golden standard and there isn't been in recent history - probably since the era of Morrow and Cronkite at best. So the best course of action is to select three or four news broadcasts that, in your view, provide different slants on the news, compare their coverage and, to the extent possible, fact check them and come to your best conclusion.Response by CPT Jim Schwebach made Nov 20 at 2016 6:09 PM2016-11-20T18:09:07-05:002016-11-20T18:09:07-05:00SSgt Private RallyPoint Member2093862<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Generally read bbc, fox, msn, and military.com online. With reductions in staffing most National and International press organizations literally don't have people on the ground (news bureaus) in the locations they are "reporting" on. Without staff they are left either repeating political and corporate press releases or contracting out to one of small number of equally undermanned "news services". This leaves them without the ability to adequately judge if the story they print/present is objective. So for the most part they go with what "feels" right (i.e. personal opinion) in lieu of gathering actual facts. What's worse is that most of the media are currently on the precipice of massive layoffs. Papers including The Journal, The New York Times, The Guardian, and Gannett Publications have announced plans to reorganize, shed staff, or kill off whole divisions.Response by MSgt James Mullis made Nov 21 at 2016 6:04 PM2016-11-21T18:04:54-05:002016-11-21T18:04:54-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member2097074<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As Joe Friday would say...
