In AZ it's free to get Veteran on your DL. We do pay $25 additional for tags. They are treated like personalized plates.

I know that it's free in Arizona as SFC Wade W. stated. I had veterans plates in AZ but I could not get the veterans plates in VA due to the fact that I am still active duty. Not really sure that I agree with Virginia's policy on this.

I think it's free in Arizona but it's not a Sticker it's printed on the ID. All they want is a current CAC, VA Card, DD 214, or something to that effect among a few Veteran Organization ID's such as the American Legion.

To say that we (Veterans) should get stuff for free, is telling the world that we are entitled. I feel no sense of self-entitlement just because I "chose" to serve. If a company offers military discounts, then I will gladly accept said discounts. It shows two things on the company's part: 1. They support the military, 2. They understand we don't make tons of money by serving in the military. If the DMV is offering us the opportunity to have that sticker on our license, then I would support it gladly by paying $10.00.

It shouldn't have to be a sticker. There's codes for what type of license people carry so having a "V" on it is easily done. It's printed on a laser printer so it should be free. Why should I have to pay for someone to SIMPLY enter in a keystroke or select an option?

In UTAH it is free and Veteran is typed next to your DOB. No you shouldn't have to pay to have it put on your license anywhere. Your 214 should get it added on there when you renew your license, for free.

In Idaho I just showed my retired ID and the clerk checked the block on her screen and two weeks later, the license showed up with "Veteran" on it. No charge. However if there were one, I wouldn't have gone for it as I already have the cards etc. that matter.

50% or higher disability rating and you get a free license plate and vehicle registration in Alaska. It is the State of Alaska way of saying "Thank you for your Service"

i would love to pay only $10 for veteran plates. in NY they cost $38.75 for non custom plates, and $70 for personalized with an additional $31.75 renewal every two years on top ofyour registration costs.

It is free in Texas and no, you should not have to pay. You do have the chance to donate to the states' Fund for Veteran Assistance when registering your car, getting a license, or a license to carry a firearm

I think it depends on the purpose of the sticker.

If it is just so that my state can recognize me for my service with a sticker on "my" license then that's nonsense. I will be a veteran with or without the sticker. I'm not going to waste $10 for a sticker only I will see.

If it is to raise money for a veteran cause then that is a completely different story. I would gladly pay for the sticker even if it had no other purpose.

But if having a veteran sticker on my license can help get me out of a ticket then by all means, please take my money.
