Not that I have anything against Catholics, but I do have some strong opinions on the pope and some of the customs...like bending down before him and kissing his ring....I think Jesus is rolling around in heaven everytme this happens...the pope is not GOD yet....many treat him as if he were one...or like going to confession and being told...ok, you'll be forgiven of your sins....go to five hell mary's, six cartwheels and cook an awesome dinner for your husband tonight and you shall be absolved of your sins......yeah, right.....ok, so I got a little side tracked....but no....you shouldn't have to walk a hundred miles to get the attention of the pope...or to inspire him on a subject... Either he's going to talk about it or not...and what happens after they walk the hundred miles and he doesn't continue talking about immigration?
No, it doesn't seem to me to be a purpose or a solution by walking a hundred miles.
