Would you cut your combat pay to keep the A10?

With threats and articles of the pending doom of my favorite life saver being more publicized, I wonder what we could do as troops to actually keep this where it is needed.

The A-10 is aging and becoming to costly for the Air Force. It's become some what iconic in the past couple years because they want to scrap it. But I'm sure the Air Force will find something that's a better fit to replace it in the coming years. Until then the Apache can pick up the slack.

This is a "Colors of Money" issue. Combat Pay comes from one bucket, A-10 (and other platforms) comes from another. You don't have to give up one to get the other.

The issue with the A-10 vs F-35 is that they just aren't comparable platforms. The A-10 is an amazing platform. The F-35 also has the potential to be an amazing platform, however it's not a good replacement for the A-10. For the F-Series however...

Now that is an interesting question but since I am no longer able to collect combat pay since I'm retired I couldn't fairly answer that. I do have a romantic relationship to this air frame having grown up near Richards Gebaur where they were HQd. I love them.

I would cut the F-35 to fund the A-10...what I would like is for the Army to keep the OH-58 Iowa Warrior.

Maybe if we stopped paying dual BAH (see other posts) we could fund the A-10...It is one of the best close air support aircraft ever built.

I wouldn't make our equipment pay the price when the government allows so many fraudulent issues within programs like welfare and the VA slip through the cracks.

No, but I'd be glad to cut the pay of most politicians and defense contractor "bonuses" to keep the A-10 instead.

I never had the pleasure of seeing this thing in CAS myself, but knowing what it has done to save as many lives as it has, I would hate to lose it. Then again, I didn't think we should lose the Blackbird either.
