Would you change any aspect of basic training, or are you satisfied with the way it is now, and the soldiers being produced today?

Cpl Kevin Henderson I met and talked to a young Marine last week, and also had a young man come up to me and ask if he could shake my hand. He was a senior in high school with plans to join the Air Force. Both of these young men were squared away. I went through Boot Camp a little over 50 years ago. I am fine as long as they do not relax the standards or training. The training needs to be challenging because being deployed will challenge you.

I learned from my xo that you no longer have to have a passing pt test or brm score as long as you show improvement in basic. After that it’s a problem for the unit you go to. That is a huge unsat in my book and blew my mind first time I heard it.
