The first time, 2 years ago was at a McCormick and Schmicks on the Sunday prior to Veteran's Day. Our "hero", a man in his late 50s, came in wearing ill-fitting Class-As, ribbons and awards that were out of sequence, a maroon beret with gold specialist rank pinned on the center with no flash, a CIB, but with no campaign medals... the guy was soup! My wife was nervous I was going to make a huge stink. When he went to the restroom, I waited outside to intercept him for a gentlemanly discussion. I was firm, but polite. He quickly finished his meal and left. This past year, he shows up at my kid's high school, again in his goofy uniform, for a Veteran's Day Dinner and Concert. This time I wanted to humiliate him, but I likely would've only embarrassed my kids. So, I pointed him out to the school police liaison officer and let him deal with it. The guy has two strikes now, I really hope and pray I don't have to be tried by this clown again this year!Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 5 at 2015 11:23 PM2015-03-05T23:23:11-05:002015-03-05T23:23:11-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member515012

I don't really get spun up about stolen valor. I find it more amusing to look at the pictures and see how jacked up people can be. Plus, I've never been in a situation where I had to confront someone about this issue. If I was in a situation maybe it'd be different. I have other issues to worry about than some douchebag running around in a service uniform getting a free meal. I'm a firm believer that people reap what they sow.

Guess I have my fucking priorities wrong.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 6 at 2015 4:45 AM2015-03-06T04:45:25-05:002015-03-06T04:45:25-05:00SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member515013

Wish I could choose the first three at the same time. Yes... always down for what is right... and they deserve it.

The food is free. I still pay. I even pay it forward by paying for the next civilian and their family behind me.
