I am wondering if Jane Fonda ever asked forgiveness for her deplorable
actions during Vietnam?

SSGT Ward - in a short word - No. Still today, 46 years afterwards she has never shown, nor does she have any remorse for her traitorous actions. "Hanoi Jane" and I have something in common; we were both in Vietnam at the same time - she in Hanoi and I on an aircraft carrier going back and forth between YANKEE and DIXIE Stations. (east of North Vietnam and South Vietnam).

Until she apologizes to the POWS and their families, and then the rest of us veterans she can Kiss my (*)!

She may have asked. I still pee on her in the VFW. ***no I wasn't in Vietnam, but I still find her actions deplorable.

She will never be forgiven, she could be taking a dirt nap soon and the anger would still be there. She has earned that anger and she is stuck with it.

On the subject of Jane Fonda; again: Young, naive, in love and fighting for a cause that, by 1972, most of the Nation supported--end the war in Vietnam. She claims the POW note passing never happened and that she was manipulated into the infamous photo op placing her in the gunner's seat of the North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun. Perception is one thing and reality, quite often, another. Truth is, she should never have been there in the first place and her actions furthered the cause of our enemies both at home and abroad. She claims she's sorry and she should be but when it comes to real blame, her actions pale in comparison. From the Gulf of Tonkin to our abandonment of our South Vietnamese allies in the Spring of '75, our Government essentially fought the VN war as a "holding engagement" against Communism at the expense of nearly 60K American and God only knows how many Vietnamese lives--somewhere between one to two million of the latter. McNamara said later, "We knew going in that we couldn't win"--WTF. For those who hate Jane Fonda, I get it and I have no problem with it but she is just the Poster Child. Hiding behind her skirts, however, are a lot of Government officials who had the power to do a better job committing troops, prosecuting the war and establishing a workable peace in Vietnam.

That would be another open wound that could be permitted to heal. I doubt that Jane Fonda even thinks about what she did at that time and if she does, I suspect she is clueless as to how her actions are still cause for consternation among participants of that war even now. Granted, there may be some that agreed with her then and continue to do so. I do not see her asking for forgiveness now or into the future!

I'm sure a lot of people would forgive her but not likely any of us. In her mind, she did the right thing and there is no reason to ask for forgiveness. Most of the millions of followers that watch her crap on screens don't care either. I could not stand to watch any of her movies but I've been told that is narrowminded or vengeful.
Just think, we almost elected someone very much like her to be our President!

She did attempt to apologize but no one believed the sincerity of any of those apologies. Her anti-war rhetoric and the infamous picture will haunt her to her grave as a Communist sympathizer and unwitting tool of the Communists. It doesn't matter if there are reported sources that state the POWs mentioned in the infamous storyline of her actions have gone on record to dispute many of the allegations other than the infamous photos. Americans that remember the war and the photo will always despise her; and we will continue to see this story of Hanoi Jane passed around social media like a "chain letter". Dennis Rodman's relationship with North Korea can't even dethrone her as the most hated American.
