Would I need to go through my unit for standard issued glasses? Or is there a website where I can order them for myself?

Well, here is what I found out from the LHI representative at an SRP my BN just did a few months ago. If you are a member of the USAR and USANG and you are RED in vision and get an exam done, you will NOT be issued government glasses and inserts until/unless you MOB.

It depends your type of service, active or reserve. As an AGR Soldier, I just go to my optometrist and request them. But my TPU Soldier get them via LHI.

My Soldiers get their free lenses thru this site since LHI does not provide them anymore. It is legit. We are Army Reserve. All you have to do is submit the form and your prescription.

If you are a TPU and have not had you eye exam, cal LHI to get an appointment. If you need glasses, tell the dictor to ORDER THEM FOR YOU. you will have limited options for frames, but they will mail them to you.
