Would I get promoted while assigned to a 00G position?

I am going to an E-8 00G position as an E-7 and I am currently 2/50 in the OML. My current MOS is over strength by 3.

Since 00G is MOS Immaterial, I think you have a good chance. But, being it's the USAR....and they have tricked me a time or two....

Have you spoken with your S1 and/or RPAC? Granted, they may not know, but it's a starting point. I would also recommend sending an RFI to your Readiness Division. They may actually have a better idea/answer

I don’t think you’ll have an issue. Officers assume immaterial positions all the time (01A, 05A, 67A) when taking command, BN XO, etc. Not common for an NCO but I think it will tell the board that you are broadening. Plus, if it’s coded 5O level, then that looks good.
