I've seen a lot of media discussion regarding this recent add for Pantene on 'workplace stereotypes'. I'm curious to see what the take is on the subject from the Rally Point population.

Honestly, I was a little offended... I see the same issue going the other way, too...

For example, if a female does it, it's flirting and/or being cute... if a male does it, it's sexual harassment...

Understand that SGT O'Neill and both those in your latter sentence are dead WRONG. I see it to, and the part that I detest is to know that woman is using her "wiles" and the males are being privy and don't even know it. Breeds a highly undisciplined and biased organization.

There are a lot of issues like this that I look at very differently than I did 20 years ago. I'm not sure if my views have changed as much as what I have always seen as gender bias (not just directed at one gender) being more obvious to others. Perhaps another aspect is that we may be maturing enough as a society to tackle these types of questions.
On a personal note, I have noticed I am MUCH more aware of how women are portrayed or talked about now that I have 2 daughters and another on the way. My father was in the Navy and my mother was a strong role model for me in a lot of ways and I think seeing her taking care of my brothers and I led me to grow up with a different perspective on what a woman's role can be.

I think it's a weak marketing ploy and further perpetuates these exaggerated stereotypes. Quite self serving.
