Simple right or wrong issues and basic facts are furiously debated. I'm not sure if we can move forward as a unified country with two separate evenly distributed core belief systems. Would everyone be satisfied if the country somehow peacefully split. Who gets the kids in the divorce? With the great social and political divide we are experiencing, what direction is this country headed? We have a 2 party system so each party will always take opposite position on an issue. We a people should not become sheep and blindly follow one political party, who is saying it and how loud they say it. If people start doing there own research making a well informed decision is the greatest danger to our 2 party system. Also right now people who aren't happy that Trump became POTUS and, are loudly shouting their disapproval. I think after a few months the end of oscar season the angry shouting will slow down.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 31 at 2017 8:33 AM2017-01-31T08:33:15-05:002017-01-31T08:33:15-05:00MAJ Bryan Zeski2298997<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If anything, I hope this election has shown us that our election process is either broken or outdated. If we move towards a tiered-voting system, people can vote for third-party candidates without having to worry about their vote being "wasted." This will inevitably break us out of the two-party rut we're currently mired in.<br /><br />Additionally, Congressional term limits will further breathe new life into the government.Response by MAJ Bryan Zeski made Jan 31 at 2017 8:51 AM2017-01-31T08:51:55-05:002017-01-31T08:51:55-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member2299106<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>People in this country are stuck in their ways. People refuse to budge and or debate because they are stuck in their religious, political belief, and so forth. We are now stuck in a 2 party system with the same people getting elected and same policies being enforced. Democrats blame Republicans for everything and so do Republicans. Their is only 2 ways this will end either a civil war breaks out and or this country just divides itself between left or right.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 31 at 2017 9:29 AM2017-01-31T09:29:12-05:002017-01-31T09:29:12-05:00MSG Brad Sand2299209<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>From my stand point, things are not really that bad and when the toddlers wear themselves out from throwing their tantrums, calm will be restored. This isn't new. No, I cannot see a time when everyone in this country would be "ok" splitting up. Remember that 600K+ Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines died to settle the question of succession. It isn't going to happen. If you think things are bad today you need to pick up a history book and learn how "bad" things used to be and have been since our founding. Politicians used to duel. Alexander Hamilton was killed by Aaron Burr (the sitting VP)in a duel. Congressman attacked each other on the floor of the Senate. Andrew Jackson blamed the press for killing his wife because they attacked her so harshly in the newspapers. Things are not that bad today. The media with its far reaching, real time coverage causes more issues with their selective partisan agenda.Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 1 at 2017 12:30 AM2017-02-01T00:30:11-05:002017-02-01T00:30:11-05:002017-01-31T07:24:31-05:00
