If it was me I would like to see it go to training, schools, and awards. Mainly to the training and schools these two areas will set soldiers apart from their peers and weed out the soldiers that wanna get promoted or just buy their time.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 9 at 2014 2:02 PM2014-04-09T14:02:53-04:002014-04-09T14:02:53-04:00SFC Craig Dalen97602<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>These points should return to the education portion.Response by SFC Craig Dalen made Apr 9 at 2014 2:17 PM2014-04-09T14:17:28-04:002014-04-09T14:17:28-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member97607<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I just had this discussion with a you SGT yesterday. They will have to change the system very soon as many Soldiers coming in today will not have the chance to deploy, but not sure where the points would be "best" used. There are many arguments for them to go many places. Personally I think something involving assignment variety should be counted towards promotion.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 9 at 2014 2:22 PM2014-04-09T14:22:01-04:002014-04-09T14:22:01-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member97756<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It should be something that the individual Soldier can control, like the higher the APFT score, the more points you get. Military education unfortunately sometimes is out of the control of the Soldier, especially now in these days of budget restrictions. College education can be another area for the points, might be the incentive for some Soldiers to start their higher education if they haven't done so already. I don't agree with the idea of putting the points back into the actual board, because I have seen some boards where is just a popularity contest, or a check the block type of thing.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 9 at 2014 4:58 PM2014-04-09T16:58:32-04:002014-04-09T16:58:32-04:00SSG Ed Mikus97945<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would like to see skills testing brought back, i see too many Sr NCO's that re-classed into a technical job and refuse to learn it but continue to get promoted because instead of doing their job they find everything else to do leaving those with the technical skills trapped both in the technical job with limited leadership opportunities and keeping them from promotions.
