With all the cutbacks and budget shortages, what changes do you think need to be looked at or implemented to make it a better experience and/or more proficient for all involved?

I think more locations will cut costs significantly. No reason why everyone in the world has to travel to one place to go to ALC/SLC.

Cutting the ALC-CC class in half. 90 days is way more than enough to get it complete, cut it down to 45 of even 60 which would allow more classes per year which in turn would help alleviate the back log of NCO's that are stuck on a waiting list.

I agree that 90 days may be to long but at the same time not everyone is provided time during their duty day to complete the course. Which is why i can understand it being so long.

I can understand why it is so long and I agree with you that some people are not afforded proper time during the duty day to conduct ALC-CC. However, I finished in less than 30 day and didn't use a single minute of the duty day to conduct it. It can be done in much less time than 90 days if NCO's just apply themselves. I understand everyone's personal situation is a little different and they may not have a lot of free time to do it, but 60 days tops is more than ample time to complete the course.

There is something to be said about going TO a school. I think asking an NCO to go to school full-time and still having to deal with "work" is too much to ask of some schools, especially at the more senior level. The building of relationships and the focusing on school make it much better than conducting schooling via Distance Learning (DL). I do think some schools can be taught via DL; but, I also believe that building those relationships, face-to-face communication/education, and time at the school with the SMEs can provide a better quality of education for more personal (and less technical) type schooling.
There are many things that can be done DL, but there is still something that can/should be done in a classroom at a schoolhouse - for much more than the educational value.
