I see great leadership qualities and several politically-sensitive speakers in this group... can WE improve the system as candidates? Who wants to run? With all the leadership and staff training we get while in the service, how many of you are seriously considering politics upon separation? 2014-09-15T12:29:35-04:00 SGT Marvin "Dave" Bigham 241975 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We (vets) get a lot of questions tossed our way to get our input on government operations. My wife is a vice pres of our subdivision association and I learned quite a bit on what's going behind it. Local government is a way to go!! I would not be opposed to it, and it is an active discussion in our household; I was asked to wait until my children are out of the house to become active in seeking public office as to insulate them (as best as possible) from any of the drama. I am not sure if I will untimately throw my name in the hat and join that arena or not, but WE as a collective of National Leaders NEED to be more involved! I think some of us are well trained and well suited to lead at a higher level. My wife says I will have to ditch the beard...(I think that's the only reason she supports it!) Civilians don't think like US. I was aChief Unior Stewart for a major corporation. My philosophies disagreed with rank and file. I never made my private thoughts known. I would not compromise my ethics, my spirtual beliefs, or my good name for a person that deserved being reprimanded. I was expected to hate Management, whom in my case were good honest men. I m aware that this is a stereotype but integrity in civilian work force is a nonexistent. Reason being the only time a person needs a Union Rep. Is when they were in trouble. The Political wrangling in the Military was with men &amp; women of integrity. Additionally you are held accountable for your actions; that is doesn't happen in the Civilian populous. For me no Political Career. Maybe for you, it may be different. This is merely my thoughts on this issue.27 years USAF Active Duty Response by SMSgt Emmett Finlon made Dec 3 at 2014 2:00 AM 2014-12-03T02:00:07-05:00 2014-12-03T02:00:07-05:00 2014-09-15T12:29:35-04:00
