PO3 John Jeter734386<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I do not believe this will be a short term commitment. We spent decades in Europe and the far east after WWII propping up govt. structures that held up in times of adversity. If we're not prepared to make this commitment I would rather not waste our people or resources. Will we actually be allowed to train up & SUPPORT Iraqi forces this time to stand up to ISIS? Or are we wasting our efforts, AGAIN?2015-06-08T20:38:59-04:00PO3 John Jeter734386<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I do not believe this will be a short term commitment. I just don't think we were successful in giving them and/or bringing out their own will to fight. The fact that they won't defend themselves now is a reflection of their failure, not ours.Response by LTC Yinon Weiss made Jun 8 at 2015 9:45 PM2015-06-08T21:45:53-04:002015-06-08T21:45:53-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member734946<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We are wasting our efforts, again.<br />Those fools will not find the will to fight for themselves.<br />Frankly, I think we beat it out of them.<br />They got so used to people doing things for them that they forgot how to do it for themselves. Now a ragtag band of pirates are a legitimate threat to overrun Baghdad.<br /><br />I hate to say it, but it might be time to eat some popcorn and watch ISIS (terrorist jihadis) fight Iranians (apocalyptic hegemons). We can deal appropriately with whichever victor emerges, battered and bloody. Sucks for the Iraqis, but they made their bed.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 9 at 2015 1:15 AM2015-06-09T01:15:36-04:002015-06-09T01:15:36-04:00SSG Leonard Johnson735002<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>until u get strong military leadership[.....umfortunatly....u will get nome....this administration isn't to fond of our military at present time, about 2016-2017;;;;;going to be a very roughntimeResponse by SSG Leonard Johnson made Jun 9 at 2015 2:33 AM2015-06-09T02:33:38-04:002015-06-09T02:33:38-04:00Lt Col Private RallyPoint Member735108<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Being allowed to train them, and actually being able to train them, are two different questions. There's only so much training and support you can give when the Iraqis are willing to retreat from defensible positions, with a significant advantage in firepower and personnel, and leave behind equipment the American government has given them.<br /><br />Personal opinion? It's time to leave this region.Response by Lt Col Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 9 at 2015 6:59 AM2015-06-09T06:59:22-04:002015-06-09T06:59:22-04:00SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter3116209<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Wasting money wasting efforts and placing our troops in danger. <br /><br />Peace!Response by SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter made Nov 23 at 2017 11:37 PM2017-11-23T23:37:10-05:002017-11-23T23:37:10-05:002015-06-08T20:38:59-04:00
