Will the Iranian government intervene on behalf of one of it's star female soccer players?

The husband of the Iranian women's soccer captain has decided to withhold her passport (as is allowed by Iranian law) so that she will be home for her son's first day of school. This means she will not b present at the Asian Cup. She says, the "Iranian government needs to make changes to the existing laws." "she just wants the opportunity to represent her country". I'm wondering if the Iranian government will intervene on her behalf or if the issue will be seen as to broad and invoking help for her will be beyond what they are willing to do because it will set a precedent for others to follow/request.

It is Iranian law that allows him to do so. It is very unlikely that the government will go against that law.

Sharia law. Women are subservient to men. He wants her home. The government is not going to intervene. She may even be subject to punishment for asking that the government support her over a man.

The Iranian government will tend to isolate the stuff that "world opinion" starts beating them up on. That means it's possible that the women's soccer program will be reeled back in so there aren't repeat episodes. The other way it could go would be to enhance the visibility of their team captain as a "flag raiser" and quietly put the kabash on her husband if they think it will benefit them. The third is the ever present "do nothing" option and let it blow over as the news cycle doesn't care about it. I suspect the third option is in the lead right now.
