I hope you're playing good OPSEC and redacted PII to prevent possibility of stealing your identity. That also may happen when you submit your resume to unverified "employer."

Is this for a civilian or federal job? It's a big difference, a civilian resume is often one page, two max, while a federal resume has no page limit and often benefits from being much longer.

Hi Jay,
I am responsible for hiring IT personnel at the senior level. I go through resumes quite a bit, and rather rapidly. Here are a couple pointers. 1) Put a list of all your skills (alphabetically) near the top on the first page of your resume. When scanning through hundreds of resumes, I don't have time to read them all. I skim rapidly for keywords. 2) Use an easy to read font. I use Garamond, but Ariel and Calabri work well. 3) Write your resume with the understanding that it will be in a pile of hundreds of other resumes. Your resume has to stand out in some fashion.

Here is how i have the first page of my resume setup (@9 font):
Header with all contact information and link to my Linkedin profile
Objective
Technical Skills
Managerial Skills
Summary of Qualifications
Education

Great resource and initiative to get your credentials out there. You can never get too much advice. Building LinkedIn profile and making sure your social profiles reflect a positive image are important. Jim Lorraine looks at Facebook pages of prospective employees to ensure character is in line with mission.
