Will Netanyahu's threat of shooting stone throwers in the West Bank act as a deterrent?

Currently Israeli forces are under strict guidelines to not fire upon Palestinians who hurl rocks at them and then leave. The ever increasing tensions in the area have lead Netanyahu to say, the position of his government is "zero tolerance towards stone-throwing and zero tolerance towards terror". Will this lead to more deaths or act as a strong deterrent and prevent this behavior?

I think it's warranted, though extreme. I'm really torn on this issue; on one hand yes, rocks can be lethal, on the other hand no, they are using rocks in protest because they don't want to use more advanced weaponry... I honestly don't know, I think that some action needs to be taken, but not like this.

I'm a bit wishy-washy on this one. I good with utilizing non deadly options to disperse them. It is a volitile situation that could get real very quickly though. Even a thrown stone can be a deadly projectile, so the option of deadly response should be on the table.

Throwing rocks at people with guns is a bad idea. Eventually someone will decide to shoot you no matter what the official policy is.

For those on the fence, perhaps the Israelis could start by retaliating with rubber bullets, shotgun propelled bean bags, or some other form of painful, but non lethal means of deterring rock throwers. Then see how long that works.

It is NOT okay to throw rocks at anyone. I am really getting tired of those who "peacefully" protest in a manner that is violent and then complain when their violence is answered.
