Will I lose my MOS if I go from NG to AD?

I'm currently a NG 35F and am interested in going AD. Some people I've talked to have told me that I will lose my MOS when my unit releases me from AD and it's unlikely I will get to keep it. Is this true?

Not necessarily, it depends on what MOS you sign for in your active duty contract

As stated above, if your conditional release is approved you will be able to successfully transition into the Active Army. A review of the most recent business rules has 35F listed as available for your E1-E4. Back when I was a recruiter the only thing we offered NG was to go active in their MOS if it was available. Maybe get a couple of choices for assignments.

If there are slots on AD open for your current MOS, then you can keep it. If there are no slots, then you will not be able to keep it. Simple as that. When conversing with your Recruiter, stress this if that is what you want to keep doing. But be prepared to be flexible.

I'm going through that same thing right now. There is a high chance you will keep your MOS but if there are no available slots you will have to reclass. You will still keep your 35F10 but you will be a MOS T in another AIT.

Oh also the process was pretty easy for me because my NCOIC and 1SGT are badasses. And being a 35F asked some people I know where slots are and your main options right now are Fort Knox, Fort Riley who are deploying to Iraq.

2 leads for me and the process starts for me. My route though is not to stay a 35F. Not interested. 35F currently in AD froze all promotions for a small period. The field got flooded. So, WO is always a way to go if you want active duty.

I was an AD 35f for 4 years and when I was in there was a high demand. I ETSed in Dec 2015. You probably can but more than likely you will have to be stationed on FT Bragg
