I was offered an E6 AGR position, but due to my promotion order stating I don&#39;t report to new unit until after my current deployment, my rank would be revoked. This also means I cannot accept AGR position as my rank revocation would make me an E4 and they cannot put an E4 into an E6 AGR position. My new unit stated they would waive my 1 year requirement, but my POC for AGR stated that wouldn&#39;t matter going AGR and I would still loose rank. It should&#39;ve been specified during the application process. AGR E4 positions are virtually non-existent in most formations, so its probably a safe bet you&#39;ll keep your rank. I can&#39;t see any reason they would pursue a reduction over what youre describing. If you were Army Guard, that is something I can see a State doing. Being USAR, I think you&#39;re safe based on what you wrote. But if you&#39;re already promoted to E-5/SGT and get picked up on AGR duty, then you&#39;ll likely get slotted into a E-5 billet anyway. You&#39;d have to speak with the AGR accessions folks to be sure though. If the AG position is also E-5, then no you should not. Administration reductions for an AGR position are rare, but they do happen (Saw in one state for Recruiting position, they wanted all applicants to start off as E-5&#39;s).
