Will I have to pay back my bonus if my husband gets relocated to a different state and I relocate with him as a member of the NG?

I haven’t received my bonus yet but will be soon. I will be 3 years in with the first half of my bonus. I just don’t know how I would need to go about the situation and don’t know if I should even receive the bonus because of not knowing if I would have to pay it back.

Best thing to do is talk to the retention NCO, he may have an answer for you on the subject.

As a NG Soldier, your bonus is obligated to your state contract. If you transfer there is a big chance of repayment. You should consult with your unit admin/retention.

Contact your unit admin to hold your bonus or ask for a POC that can give you guidance on your issue, confirm what your contract states and prepare for worst case scenario (getting bonus after taxes but having to repay it back in full) - good luck !

1. If the NG/State changes then you might have to remit or lose the bonus. 2. What is in your contract?. 3. Talk to your recruiter.

Just don't spend it, and you will have it to pay back if it becomes necessary.

As long as you fulfill your contract you keep the money.
