Will I be able to go get my family when I get to my first duty station with the epidemic going on?

What will happen when I go to my first duty station with the coronavirus epidemic going on? Will I get PTDY and be able to go home and get my wife and son to move with me even though there is a travel ban?

Just call the POTUS and ask him for a personal exemption.

This is an unprecedented situation. Nobody here can clearly answer this. This will be something you will need to work with your chain of command on.

When is your report? What duty station? If your report date is prior to 11 May, you will not be authorized PTDY to retrieve your family.

We are currently in a stop move and only Local leave is being approved. Also, PTDY is for house hunting only. Not to go get your family, you would need to request ordinary leave. And that will have to wait until the stop move is over.

Look right now no one is going anywhere till in May, last FRAGO. Folks can even go to school at a different post. Anyway the would be under your new commander after reporting in.
