This is something that I feel is a lost art in today's military. How do we teach our Soldiers what right looks like if we barely know it ourselves? Cadence responses are also welcomed in this discussion. I don't think it's as much of a lost art as many would seem to think it is. There are plenty of senior soldiers that have been around since before 2001, and I'm sure they are fully capable of training and mentoring those who need instruction.
SGT Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 11 Apr 2014 00:39:24 -0400 2014-04-11T00:39:24-04:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 11 at 2014 6:48 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/will-drill-and-ceremony-ever-be-important-to-the-military-again?n=99054&urlhash=99054

I believe it will as we transition. I'm going to have to uppercut your question by stating it's always been important, although it is a lost art. However, it has been given little priority on average by Leaders. I know were at war but we still need to polish things like this it's sm that out rank me who don't know what a left flank is. I'm all for dnc but that's just me and don't get me started on cadence calling. During the past thirteen years of war we have steered away from both of these to focus on preparation for deployments. Drill and Ceremony was on practiced during NCOES and right before a Ceremony to leave and Sergeants Time Training was manily a check in the box since a lot of training was conducted during FTX's or rotations Training Centers.
