There may be a certain amount of time that has to pass in order to be considered. You'll have to speak with the recruitment team, human resources of that organization. Be straightforward and honest with them. I know guys that had offenses and still made it into law enforcement.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 19 at 2019 6:41 PM2019-04-19T18:41:54-04:002019-04-19T18:41:54-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4560646<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Being on probation may keep you from getting into it right now. Most agencies have a timeframe from when the DUI occurred. You also need to get a drivers history to see what can be expunged. <br />Each agency will have their own policy on if they will hire with a DUI on your history. My agency used to not hire younif you had any but now we will. I’m not sure what time frame we look for. Other agencies will allow you to work on your DUI permit... it just depends. Ask the agency you are looking at and see what they say.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 19 at 2019 6:44 PM2019-04-19T18:44:02-04:002019-04-19T18:44:02-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4560680<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is a question you need to ask directly to the agency you are planning to apply to. Tell them the truth and let them know up front. If you lie about any of it or you try to hide it, your toast. And they will find out. You will most like have to wait to apply until after your off probation.Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 19 at 2019 7:14 PM2019-04-19T19:14:34-04:002019-04-19T19:14:34-04:00CSM Charles Hayden4561279<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Good work in having it reduced to Reckless Driving. <br /><br />If you have documentation that says you wre charged with and or convicted of “Reckless Driving”; you should immediately cease any and all references to a DUI. <a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="1605412" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/1605412-11c-indirect-fire-infantryman-mortarman-fort-hood-texas">SPC Private RallyPoint Member</a> If you don’t have the docs, get’em! There is no way of getting around it, the DUI will be brought up.. either with them digging into what led up to the reckless driving during the interview, polygraph, or background investigation. You're best bet is to call up the department you're looking into and ask them up front, it'll save you and them time.Response by SGT Kyle Mullen made Apr 21 at 2019 10:46 PM2019-04-21T22:46:55-04:002019-04-21T22:46:55-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member5063003<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So the probation might be the one causing the problem right now. For our law enforcement you can have Two DUI. You do not have a DUI you have a reckless driving. Now if they ask if you were charge for one you will say yes and be able to explain what happen. Just apply each agency has different rules.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 26 at 2019 3:40 PM2019-09-26T15:40:42-04:002019-09-26T15:40:42-04:002019-04-19T18:36:22-04:00
