SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4991183 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a secret clearance and love computers and coding, no experience at all and no certifications what so ever, my understanding is that is an entry level mos as of now. My question being is what would be the reason they deny my packet? I’m 21 not going away from the army anytime soon why would they take a civilian that would require more training over my self? I’ve seen all the class slots and theres openings in every single month and they’re in dire need for 17c with a tier 15 bonus so why even need a packet at this point other than security reasons? Why would the Army possibly deny my reclassification packet for 17C? Given the MOS shortage, why do I even need to submit a packet? 2019-09-04T17:45:49-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4991183 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a secret clearance and love computers and coding, no experience at all and no certifications what so ever, my understanding is that is an entry level mos as of now. On top of that, you are an E4 in an overstrength MOS who has a RCP of 8 years, and you are several years into that already.<br />You lack the clearance required, you have no certifications, no formal education, and by the time you finished training and met the SRR your ETS will be right up against your RCP, meaning your branch won&#39;t get much use out of you if you don&#39;t get promoted. On top of that, you will be years behind your peers in terms of skill level which will make you a liability in terms of career progression. This is why it&#39;s an application, because a board has to determine if you&#39;re worth the risk and if you would bring value to the field.<br />Compare that to an initial entry who literally costs less to train than you and has the silver lining of being reclassed to an under strength job when they fail. You are a much bigger risk for the field to accept and that&#39;s why it&#39;s an application MOS. You said it yourself- Not competitive, 0 certificates. It doesn&#39;t matter if it is entry MOS or not- the service spent time and money on you to get you where you are. 2. Without a packet how in the Hell do you expect them to see who matches the requirements and who (you) is blowing smoke. 3. Evidently after submitting your packet it was deemed that you FAILED to meet the requirements they have. 4. What you want is immaterial if you do not have the skills, scores, etc to make the cut.
