We (leaders of all ranks) all have Soldiers in our formation who tend to move to gravitate toward the activities and events that create that similar adrenaline rush. Where as leaders have we lost the focused of unit/organizational style intramural sports? I know that we all value our time with families and friends. But where has the healthy competition gone between units with battalions, brigades and installations. Growing up in the Army in the mid 90's. There were more Soldiers involved and proud that their unit where crowned the champs of a sport. Big Army pushed out the Army Sports Program out last year and at least at the installation that I am at it has never really taken out. The biggest thing at my installation seems to be intramural softball. What do you all think it the cause or the reasoning for something that use to be healthy competition to push our Soldiers away? Is it leadership involvement, advertisement, or just the way of time in our Army? Why would the Army not promote an organized sports program? 2014-01-27T21:18:35-05:00 SFC Ocie Conner 45446 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Since deployments are coming to an end. Most young troops now a days want to get to COB so they can go to the barracks and play XBOX. I know that when I was at Fort Bragg many intramural sports were advertised and played. The ones that seemed to never take off were the ones that gauged little interest among young Soldiers, who all seemed busy with "other" things.
