I try to refrain from using the R word as it is so over used. Like you’re a racist if you walk on the other side of the street when you see a few thugs walking your way. Or you’re a racist because you don’t agree with or vote for a black man who is running for President. But in this case it would clearly be warranted because if all things equal and the only reason for exclusion is the color of the skin then what else gives? Unless maybe it’s only people from a certain culture. Like only Spanish speaking, or only a certain unit. So if they think it’s because the other color is inferior then that’s a problem and you don’t want to be associated with that group anyways.
