SFC Private RallyPoint Member103455<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is the situation: Soldiers is washing clothes in the barracks take 27 min for a washer and at least 1 hour to dry. The company 1SG order the CQ to check the laundry room every hour on the hour and if they find unattended laundry no matter if the machine is moving or not that CQ get a trash bag bag all the clothes mark the bag and deliver the bag to the 1SG office so the soldier have to see 1SG to get the clothes back. Can somebody explain me what kind of attitude is that? What if the soldier have to use the restroom? The CQ will grab the wet clothes tag and bag? What if the soldier leave money on the clothes and that money isn't there when he pick his clothes up? Who will be responsible if clothes get damage? Why would a 1SG order the CQ to collect laundry from the laundry room in the barracks?2014-04-16T06:24:01-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member103455<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is the situation: Soldiers is washing clothes in the barracks take 27 min for a washer and at least 1 hour to dry. I HATED when I was waiting to use the washer and driers and people didn't care about their belongings enough to stay with it so that when the machines finished, they could take their clothes out immediately so someone else could use it. If the bathroom or smoke break is that important, ask a buddy to watch your things for you and take care of them if they finish before you return, otherwise, have enough courtesy for the other folks to be there when the buzzer goes off so you can remove your items so they dont have to wait or "be rude" and remove your items for you.Response by PO3 Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 16 at 2014 6:58 PM2014-04-16T18:58:55-04:002014-04-16T18:58:55-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member104015<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This seems like it is going a step to far...unfortunately like everything else it is because somebody somewhere did something stupid. I understand wanting to ensure everyone who needs to wash cloths gets to by making sure machines that are not being held up because someone wants to leave their stuff in it for hours. But to stop a moving machine because someone stepped away for whatever the reason is a bit much. I would ask the 1SG for clarification but I would also suggest a solution....like a sign up sheet for the washer and dryer, similar to what you might find at the gym waiting for treadmills. That way if someone leaves their stuff for an excessive amount of time they know who to go to....Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 16 at 2014 7:33 PM2014-04-16T19:33:45-04:002014-04-16T19:33:45-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member104056<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In my years of meeting angry and disgruntled 1SG's, they all seem to have some pet peeve or other. Collecting laundry is a little out of control, but it's all legal. It was left unsecured. You can what-if the situation to death, but the 1SG response will still be that the clothing was left unsecured. The reason why this is done this way is because Battalion CSM walk into the laundry room and was the laundry room was a mess. She went off on 1SG and next day this start to happen. Not by CSM idea tho!!Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 16 at 2014 11:07 PM2014-04-16T23:07:18-04:002014-04-16T23:07:18-04:00SGT Ben Keen104403<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>While I can see the point of removing clothes that have been left in the dryer; removing clothes from the washer is completely ridiculous. Yes, service members should maintain positive control of their gear and sitting in the laundry room for 1 hour and 27 minutes is part of that but as mentioned in the orginial question what if the service member needs to set away for a second to (heck forbid) use the bathroom? During my time in the barracks, I would take my boots with me to the laundry room and shine them up. What if I were to leave for just a moment to return my highly shinned boots to my room prior to having to carry my clean laundry to my room?<div><br></div><div>Yes, standards must be enforced but to me this looks to be a case of the 1SG coming down on his/her troops in a manner that will only make the service members question the 1SG's ability to put the welfare of the service member before his/her own. </div>Response by SGT Ben Keen made Apr 17 at 2014 9:09 AM2014-04-17T09:09:29-04:002014-04-17T09:09:29-04:002014-04-16T06:24:01-04:00
