Why was my post deleted?

I made a post in here last night. I just stated how awesome everyone is for being on RallyPoint. It include a pic of a puppy winking and point at the reader. Now it's gone. ??

I have found a lot of posts get deleted or moved without a notification or a reason why. It could just be a glitch with Rallypoint, or an admin thought it was inappropriate for Rallypoint.

I said it in the list of features, I would like to see on Rallypoint a notification of when posts are deleted, moved or combined with another so we can find them again....and if they are deleted why not send a message with why. This could act as checks and balances for the community administrators.

Sometimes if the post is close to what someone else already posted then the two will be combined. You won't get a notification for it, but if you try to find you post, there will be a link to the other post.

We are working on a notification system similar to what 2ndLt Blais describes. Right now admins can remove inappropriate photos and discussions and merge threads but have no way of notifying the affected member other than through an email or message.

Honestly, that might have been one of the posts I removed, not really sure, I doubt it because I would have remembered the picture.

As a 3-star admin, when I go to remove a post, I look over the post and try to figure out if it falls within the guidelines and what purpose does it serve the greater community. And while I get it that you were just trying to provide a smile and motivation for people here; the discussion board is meant for exactly that, discussion. We try to maintain it as such. Keep in mind, this isn't like Facebook.

If you want to post a picture, that's awesome, share it. Just keep in mind, we want to see discussions around it. For example; I made a discussion around a picture that showed saying on a wall. The saying said "The most dangerous phrase is 'that's how we always done it'. We hear that a lot in the military and that is the direction the conversation went.

Again, feel free to share your thoughts, ideas and whatever else but keep in mind, this is a discussion forum. Hope that helps shed some light on the situation.
