"The officials said they had started the campaign this week because Thursday is Citizenship Day. But the White House is also aware of federal figures showing that about 60 percent of immigrants eligible to naturalize are Latino and about 20 percent are Asian, both groups that voted overwhelmingly for President Obama. Nearly a third of legal permanent residents eligible to naturalize are Mexican" this paragraph alone is enough to get all of the conspiracy theories going full steam ahead. Thing is even I would question it based off the timing alone.

Unfortunately I expect that the push to allow more illegals immigrants to be able to vote is that it would interfere with those states that already require government ID with a recent individual picture to vote SSgt Alex Robinson.
Here in Northern Va where ID is required we had a couple instances last election where somebody tried to vote who was not authorized. After they were stopped from voting they were given an opportunity to return with proper ID they failed to show up before the polls closed.
Those states that don't require picture ID probably have illegal immigrants casting votes already.

Sir,there is a difference between Immigrants and Refugees, not sure which you are referring. The South American influx was in most part due to gangs and government corruption, they were escaping violence. The Syrian refugee influx is do to escaping war and violence. To me if we are truly the greatest nation on earth shouldn't we lead the way, shouldn't we be the first to bring hope when all hope is lost? There are bad people, and yes they will try to infiltrate our defenses, you can build a wall and they will get around it,but by showing Citizens kindness and what's good about this Great Nation isn't that the greatest defense of all. There are solutions to bad actors and one thing they hate the most is an engaged Citizenry working to not allow the bad actors to destroy their new home.In my humble opinion.

Voting is the single most powerful tool an engaged Citizen has.

PFC Stephen Eric Serati - I am very familiar with immigrants and refugees. My parents were British citizens until the day the died. My wife escaped from communist Cuba at age 14 and worked to bring her Cuban parents to this country legally.
FYI within 1/4 of a mile a south american gang executed a 17 year old who had recently come to this country at school bus stop.
The illegals who live near me came to this country because they wanted to make more money - they were not escaping corruption or gangs.
Refugees in this nation are established by the US State Department. Just because there are wars, corruption, gang warfare does not mean that people who leave that area are refugees. Refugee status can only be granted by the US State Department in the embassy or consulate in the country the people are trying to leave. Other option is thru the UN - even though that agency had significant corruption with it.

Have you noticed that everything is an emergency? And that if they want something they use a government shutdown as a tactic? Topics like HCR, Min Wage. Immigration? Plus long range benefits like voter pools? This group is evil.

Why the rush to allow more illegals in? Is it a ploy to steal the election?

Did anyone read the article?

"For now, White House officials have turned to the citizenship drive, which offers nothing for immigrants without legal status. To be eligible for naturalization, immigrants must have been legal permanent residents for at least three years and in most cases five years. The officials insisted the effort was nonpartisan."

Note the words "legal permanent residents"

Dang.... It says the same thing - "legal permanent residents".

"Democrats have done their best to exploit the moment. On Thursday, the White House set out a new initiative aimed at the roughly 8.8 million legal permanent residents of the U.S. who are eligible for citizenship but have not sought it. The program is designed to make the process easier and less daunting for applicants."

In the past that would be possible, now with voter restrictions and monitoring it's unrealistic. I don't think it has anything to do with it.

I have not seen a rush to allow but I think the reason some do not want to stem the tide is for more votes for certain people or parties.

Snopes is ran by a couple who are decidedly left wing and factcheck.org is ran by the annenberg foundation. BO sat on the board of the chicago annenberg challenge, with bill ayers, the domestic terrorist Yeah, there is no bias there at all.

I believe that they "are not supposed to" versus "can't" would be a better observation.
