Why is TSP the only investment praised by units?

Well, this is my first post...so here goes. Flashback to around 2004 (PFC-SPC timeframe) and I hear the letters T.S.P. Of course as any young Soldier would say, "What the h*** is that!?" Fast forward to today and after understanding not only what TSP is, but also other forms of investment, why is this the only investment form discussed? Now I know, that we do not work for a hedge fund or an investment firm, but why are no other options discussed? I'm not saying that TSP does not have it's advantages, but from my experience all I've ever heard from my CoC is TSP. Is this to say that WE (leaders) are not understanding of other forms of investment? Or is investment not taken seriously by US? Let's see how this goes. Looking to see what comes of this. Thanks!

Maybe because TSP is the only investment plan run by the U.S. Government for us?

But I would note that hopefully Soldiers aren't taking investment advice from their chain-of-command--as most aren't qualified to give such advice.
