Why is it that some Soldiers do dunderheaded things?

For the life of me I cannot figure out the answer to this question! So may say it's a lack of engaged leadership. What do you think?

For the same reason as anyone else does dunderheaded things. Some people (military or civilian) just have to learn their own lessons, and sometimes the hard way. As a wise man once said, "You can't fix stupid, not even with duct tape"!

Most young people feel they are invincible, add in the culture of the military and it is easy to see how some of our younger military members can do what we would say is stupid. I did many things when I was young that I would never do today, back then I was a hardcore Paratrooper and nothing could hurt me, well at least that is what I thought......

Because they are human...

We all do dunderheaded things. Hopefully we learn from them and do not do them again.

Engaged and involved leadership certainly helps, but leaders can't be everywhere 24/7/365. Plus, leaders sometimes do dunderheaded things too.
