If you are active duty you are not covered under the constitution. You sign that away the moment you join until you take off the uniform. You are covered under the UCMJ. This means the basic rights of a civilian are NOT yours. Once you become a vet then you return to the civilian sector and are covered under those rights.

Second, the fact we have allowed so many of our rights to be taken from us in a slow erosion is sickening. In 1980 I remember being able to play laser tag and paint ball with my buddies in the neighborhood, with parents tsking about how someone was dumb enough to not wear gear. Now a kid can be arrested and expelled form school for a water bubble gun!!! SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED means no one has the right to tell you you cannot carry a weapon of your choice in a manner you choose. We just need to remember that en masse and get back to the basic constitutional carry.

Finally - the first amendment has been eroded to where now words can get you arrested. Use a racial slur and see what happens. Call a woman the wrong term and get slammed for sexual harassment. Decide to not support an LGBT wedding and lose your business. There was a time when we realized words were words and nothing more. Someone used a derogatory term they simply were considered a jerk. The person who it was intended for moved on knowing the jerk was a loser. Now we have safe spaces and trigger reflexes for crine out loud! Let me address them chronologically. First, our Founders were born here. Their forebears left Europe, primarily England, often because Second Sons were ineligible to inherit estates, and America was full of free land available almost just for the asking. (The Puritans before them left England and Holland because they wanted to practice an oppressive form of religion that was discouraged in Europe.) Finally, most liberals are not trying to take anybody's guns. Many are gun owners like myself. There is a huge and extraordinarily well funded Right Wing Propaganda Machine that wants you to believe that liberal politicians are akin to communists trying to destroy America. The truth is that liberals like myself are highly focused on enforcing Constitutional rights for everyone. As to the 2A, it's really only in recent decades that it was interpreted to give all individuals the absolute right to carry any weapon, anytime, everywhere. That single 28-word sentence with 3 strangely placed commas is, in fact, a very complex issue that reasonable people can disagree on. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You are held accountable for what you say and write. People are sued, and loose jobs every day due to their activities on social media and other public settings. As we all know you cannot yell fire in a theater. Religion is much the same way. You cannot not openly discriminate against a persons religion but oddly the law has allowed Religions to discriminate against others. A Catholic hospital does not has to offer birth control to employees regardless of their religious affiliation. The law currently sides with the employer here. The Westboro Church is allowed to protest funerals which certainly negatively effect the funeral services of those families who have lost one of our own. The legislation that is most certainly coming with respect to the second amendment will be aimed at limiting access to individuals who pose a potential threat to others. The question will be how do we sort these people out? The Dems are going to be in control so gun owners who are also in the minority can help guide this change to something palatable or live with the consequences. Most people here on RP do not want to see any change and fail to accept that change is coming. Now how do we limit that change? Just saying NO is not going to cut it.
